Crime Statistics for Somerset West 2003 to 2010

When looking through the Crime Statistics released in September 2010 by the SAPS, it is extremely worrying to note that Somerset West, compared to all the other areas falling under the City of Cape Town, is listed (ONCE AGAIN!) as one of three areas with the highest incidents of Burglary Residential. The only other two are Mitchells Plain and Table View.

SAPS and Community - Credit, where credit is due

After my referencing the alarming Crime Statistics for Somerset West 2003 to 2010. Here's a fantastic update!

We are informed that a SAPS Cluster meeting was held during this past week and SAPS Somerset West heard that they had beat all other police stations by achieving the best crime reduction figures nationally.
WELL DONE TO ALL WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE!

It seems this is an area which is very accessable and has a good source of goods. The SAPS must instigate better and more coverage. Visibility has been increased, but it must be stepped up a notch.

Would cameras monitoring entry / exit points help ?
